What It Means to Me to Be BodyProud:
It was the fall of 2002 when my sister and I were at the Rio Resort looking for a chapel for her wedding. While waiting for the wedding consultant, my sister noticed a fitness show going on at the Rio. We decided to check it out. After watching a few routines, my sister challenged me to compete in fitness since I had been a gymnast back in the 1970's. At this time, I also challenged her to run a marathon. We both fulfilled our challenges!

My first hero was Olga Korbut. She sparked my interest in gymnastics back in 1972. Venus and Serena Williams--their relentless work ethic is inspiring. Lastly, some of the Cirque de Soliel preformers who train at the gym that I attend. I see them most days of the week perfecting their art. Even though their performances look phenomenal to me, they work diligently to improve.
